The success of 2023 Boylesports Derby winner Masonbrook Ger (pictured) at Johnstown & Urlingford brings us ever closer to the prospect him attempting the Derby / Champion Stakes double which was last achieved by the great Hilltown 25 years ago. Drive On Lesley did his chances of a first visit to Clonmel no harm by winning his second Cup of the season at Bandon and the same could be said for last season’s T.A Morris Stakes runner-up Gigantor who was scoring for the second time in seven days at Old Kilcullen. Although beaten in the final at Lixnaw, 2023 Oaks runner-up, Ballymac Pippin, has moved to the top of the leaderboard for the Grace & Matt Bruton Champion Bitch Stakes. The winners at Lixnaw, Bodens Hulk and Catch Magic,won valuable points & prizemoney and have made their way into our Top 12 which is important this season as both Champion Stakes will be for 8 runners and 4 reserves (increased from 2). We have not included Lasting Beauty (pup) and Kingcormac Nurse (retired) on the leaderboard. Donal B Cronin keeps the lead in the Sporting Press Fantasy Coursing competition but has now been joined there by Damien Gleeson, John Maher & Talbot O’Meara. Young Conor Comerford also holds on to his lead in the Charity Fantasy but he too has company in the shape of Jane Dowling who has come out of the pack after two good weeks in-a-row.
