Bereavement Notice

The late Charlie Faul, Carrowreagh Knox, Tubbercurry, Co Sligo who sadly passed away on Tuesday accomplished that very rare double of training an Irish Track Derby winner and an Irish Oaks Coursing winner. The track success came in 1985 courtesy of the appropriately named Tubbercurry Lad and the Clonmel classic win came in 2009 when Fortuna belied her fancy odds to win the Oaks only a few weeks after qualifying in the Ballymena TS at Tubbercurry. That same year Charlie also trained Feede Fred to reach the Coursing Derby semi-final.

A native of Tubbercurry where he was a much valued and popular working member as well as Club PRO for many years, Charlie and his family also spent some time in America in the 1960s and in Delvin, Co Westmeath in the 1980’s & 1990’s from where he enjoyed much success on the track including the aforementioned Irish Derby. Returning to Tubbercurry around 2004, Charlie was a great friend to many owners and trainers travelling a distance to the annual Tubbercurry meeting, providing B & B for their greyhounds in his own kennels.

Our sincere sympathy to his wife Celia, sons Charlie, Michael & Kevin, daughter Kathryn, grandchildren, great-grandchild, extended members of the Faul family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at the family home in Carrowreagh Knox on Friday, May 29th, from 4pm to 8pm. Requiem Mass on Saturday at 11am in the Church of St John the Evangelist, Tubbercurry followed by burial in Rhue Cemetery.

May he Rest in Peace.
