It is with great sadness that we record the passing of Kathleen Murphy of Greyhound and Pet World, Abbeyfeale, a lifelong supporter of the greyhound industry under both codes, coursing and track.
Kathleen was a familiar and much-loved figure throughout the greyhound world for many decades. Her genuine interest in all things greyhound meant she built up a great circle of friends across our community over her lifetime, friendships that spanned every county and every corner of the sport.
Together with her partner, Dominic, Kathleen helped build a business that served the needs of greyhound people with real dedication and care. Beyond the business itself, they were tremendous supporters and promoters of the sport, giving generously of their time to coursing and track alike.
Kathleen and Dominic were among the inaugural sponsors of the Irish Coursing Club Awards and sponsored the Coursing Oaks at the National Meeting, among many other contributions. Kathleen will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Our thoughts are with Kathleen’s partner, Dominic, daughter Aoife, her son Liam, and her daughter-in-law Helen, son-in-law Neil, relatives and many friends to whom we extend our sincere and heartfelt condolences.
Reposing at Harnett’s Funeral Home, The Square, Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick (V94 AK44), on Tuesday 15th September 2026, from 6.00 p.m. until 8.00 p.m. Requiem Mass for Kathleen will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church Tournafulla, on Wednesday, 16th September, at 11.00 a.m. followed by interment in the adjoining St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
May she rest in peace
